ALTEN Africa is on the shortlist to construct and operate a 5MW plant in Cape Verde

Madrid | Spain – 12 March, 2019.- ALTEN Africa has once again won a place on a shortlist for a construction, development and operating contract, with a total run time of 25 years, for a 5MW plant on the island of Boa Vista, the most easterly of the 10 islands in the Cape Verde archipelago and the third biggest in size, with a landmass of 620 Km2 (29 km long by 31 km wide) and 55 km of beaches. Its natural landscape and year-long warm climate make the island very popular with tourists.

ALTEN Africa ratifies the choice of Voltalia to execute the EPC and O&M service for its new photovoltaic plant in Kenya

Nairobi | Kenya December 13th , 2018.-ALTEN Energías Renovables has confirmed its choice of the French company Voltalia to carry out EPC and O&M service on its new PV solar power plant in Kenya. The new plant, located in the state of Uasin Gishu, in the municipality of Eldoret, the fifth largest city by population in Kenya, will produce 40MWac of power, accounting for 2% of the installed capacity in this country of 45 million inhabitants. Kenya has become East Africa’s main economic driver in recent years.

It has completed financing for the construction of a 45 MWp plant in Namibia and began construction in August last year, of a 350 MWp PV plant in Mexico.

ALTEN Africa completes financing in Namibia of one of the biggest solar PV plants in Sub-Saharan Africa

Madrid|Spain - Windhoek|Namibia, 14 March, 2018.-  ALTEN Africa has achieved financial closure of what will be the biggest photovoltaic solar power plant in Namibia and Sub-Saharan Africa (apart from South Africa), with installed capacity of 45.5 MWp for an output of 37 MWac, an investment forecast of US$70m and a useful life of over 25 years. The plant was put out for tender by NamPower, the country’s state-owned electricity company, which also holds a 19% stake. The power produced by the new plant will meet 3% of the country’s energy needs.

Madrid/Spain-Windhoek/Namibia, 23 May, 2017.- ALTEN Energías Renovables has won the tender put out by NamPower, Namibia’s state electricity company, to develop, execute and operate what will be, as of today, the biggest photovoltaic solar power plant in Namibia and Sub-Saharan Africa (apart from South Africa), with installed capacity of 45.5 MWp, an investment forecast at US$45M and a useful life of 25 years. The power produced by the new plant will meet 3% of the country’s energy needs. In addition to commissioning the project, NamPower is also an investor, with a 19% stake.
