Alten Energías Renovables is developing a 100 MW/157 MWp photovoltaic plant in Lokoja, in the Nigerian state of Kogi, which will require an investment of around US$ 140 million.

Together with Alten Energías Renovables, the majority shareholder in the project, International Finance Corporation (IFC), part of the World Bank, and other local and international partners have contributed to the financing.

The project is completely developed and financing should be completed in the coming months with a number of institutions led by FMO (the Dutch development bank).

The Lokoja PV plant will be located on a 400 Ha. plot 150 km from Abuja and will consist of latest generation photovoltaic modules that are suited to the area’s climate and conditions. This plant will produce 255,000 MWh a year, equivalent to the annual consumption of 1,8 million Nigerians, according to figures from the International Energy Agency.
